Channel 2 WSB-TV and PlayOn! Sports (PlayOn), in cooperation with the Georgia High School Association (GHSA), announce the schedule for the Thursday Night Game of the Week for the 2012 Georgia high school football season. One game will be featured each Thursday during the 12-week regular season and four post-season Friday night match-ups will be determined after the regular season.
The regular season schedule features cross-town match-ups from 11 counties in the metro Atlanta area. Seventeen of the 24 teams participating in the 2012 Thursday night games competed in the 2011 playoffs, promising an exciting season of prime-time high school football.
Games will air live on Thursday nights at 7:30 p.m. on Channel 2.2 (Me-TV), WSB-TV’s second digital channel. Comcast customers can find this on channel 248, and Charter customers on channel 127. Fans can also watch the games streamed live on wsbtv.com and www.GHSA.tv. The games will also be rebroadcast on television each Friday night in high definition at 1:06 a.m. on Channel 2 WSB-TV.

Zach Klein, Channel 2 Sports Director, delivers the play-by-play, and Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s sports columnist Michael Carvell will provide analysis of each game. And joining the team this year is Georgia high school football legend, former Georgia Bulldog and Atlanta Falcon, DJ Shockley. Coverage will also include a special halftime show featuring each school’s marching band and interviews with school principals on other areas of excellence.
The partnership between WSB-TV and PlayOn, now in its third year, is part of the GHSA Network, which provides multi-platform distribution of Georgia high school sports content on television and online at www.GHSA.tv.
